We can change the World using business an ethical capitalism. We can, and we must, and unless we do we’re screwed.

I really do believe that. I know it. Here’s an well written article for you to read, from Bloomberg, it’s about restaurants that have a ‘hyper ethical’ business model, employing at risk kids, veterans, refugees. Charitable business models, not charities, with the burdensome rules and regulations, but businesses run by people who realise that the pursuit of money isn’t actually the most intelligent way to attract money.

There’s very few businesses and business models that can’t be ethically ‘re-jigged’ , modified, in a way that would benefit people, planet, and crucially, profit.

Imagine if Netflix had an option to add £1 to your monthly fee, and that £1 would go to a charity of your choice every month. I’d say most people would be OK with that. Netflix has 137 milli0n subscribers at the time of writing.

Netflix could raise £100m a month for good causes using that money.

Hey, they could even make little films showing what they do with it.

It’s not rocket science. It’s just a matter of integrating a humanitarian intent into the business model.

Google could create some simple, monetised services in the same way. Facebook, obviously, could do the same, at massive scale.

WHY don’t these tech giants do this already? I’m frustrated by this question, it’s as if they don’t care, as if they don’t even live on this planet. What’s wrong with them?

But give it time, maybe they will.

And maybe the times are a changin’.
