777. Aldi shopping the next day
Went to Aldi to do the shop that had been too expensive at Sainsburys the day before. As predicted it came in at half the price.
I’m not sure why it should be that one is so much more expensive than the other. I suppose much of it comes down to Aldi having their own brands of many things, and just their business model I guess, competing on price. Maybe also, Sainsburys recognise they are not designed for people doing a big shop, it’s like a convenience store, the small one on Devonshire Street, right on the edge of town, do rent will be expensive, rates will be, and it’s more as a convenience shop for people on the way home or at lunch time rather than a place to go and do a weekly shop.
Aldi, it’s cheap, and it’s a high pressure environment, feels like everyone is shopping there under a ticking clock, like the oxygen is running out and they have to get in and get out in ten minutes. Good value though.
