776. Supper and cash

By bird_lovegod | 24 March 23 12:34pm | Good Deeds

She’s having a hard time, her partner died just before Christmas and she has no money, and everything is just really difficult for her. Even her phone is not working properly, and it’s all just been a bit too much for her. Met her in town and we went to Church, which she found very moving, then to Sainsburys. She told me it’s really expensive, but I said not to worry. She selected various items, nothing too special, which filled a basket on wheels. When we got to the checkout the price was more than £90! What!?!

I ummmed and arrred for a few moments, then apologised to the shop assistants but told them it was too expensive and I wasn’t willing to pay that much! It just felt wrong, bad stewardship of the money, and I know it would cost half as much at Aldi. So we left, and in the confusion, I walked out with the 2 croissants I had chosen for myself, but without paying! Went to Taco Bell, bought her a meal for herself and her friend who’s staying at her flat, gave her £30 cash to spend on whatever she needed, and told her I would go to Aldi for her the next day.

Then went back to Sainsburys and paid them the £1.80 for the croissants.

£13.48 for taco bell supper and £30 cash
