843. Big shop and a lightbulb

By bird_lovegod | 1 December 23 02:26pm | Good Deeds

Bought her a goodly amount of shopping, and a couple of lightbulbs, which cost a fiver, little did I know. Went to the Tescos on West Street, if you know Sheffield you’ll know it’s the worst Tesco in the City, possibly anywhere. Just feels grim and designed to minimise shoplifting rather than provide a pleasant shopping experience. And they’ve removed all the checkouts, so it’s self checkout, which makes the entire experience feel like a drag. In fact, I asked the girl (20 something) to do my checkout for me, partly because I was far from in the mood, and partly because I needed to buy electricity as well, which I couldn’t, because someone had seemingly dropped the machine.

Anyway, chatting to the self service girl, turns out she’s studying law, and wants to travel Asia once she graduates.

Delivering the food, I asked the lady to say. prayer for us both, which she did, and felt quite moving.

£56.91 + £10 cash so she could buy her own electricity from some other shop.
