920 Just a small Good Deed but is any Good Deed small?
I had the feeling to go to Crookes to do a good deed. No idea who for, and then the idea bonded with the memory that I had a free £5 bet voucher to spend at William Hill. With those twin motivations in mind, off I set.
Spotting someone selling the Big Issue outside Co Op reminded me of my primary purpose, so I parked up and went over and started chatting.
After asking who he thought would win the World Cup, (Argentina) I offered to help with some shopping, and explained about Ethical Much. He asked if I was a Christian, Yes, and it turns out we both frequent STC, Saint Thomas Crookes, although I hadn’t seen him there. I’m usually late. Mostly I just go for the sermons and coffee and to shed a few tears then I’m on my way.
Anyway, Ionel, that being his name, goes shopping and I pick up the tab on the EM debit card. Ionel has also done me a kindness, buying me from his own money a jar of sweet red pepper sauce that he says they have back in Romania. Very kind of him.
We chat some more, he’s going to play football later with the Church team. I give him EM phone number to text if he needs anything.
It’s nice that God sends another Christian for me to help. You see, socially, culturally, this is how we are supposed to support and care for one another.
I went to the betting shop and put my free £5 bet on Argentina at 9-1.
Thank you Ionel … it’s delicious!
If Argentina win I’ll split the loot!
Thank you supporters for making this wonderful good deed happen for £28.10. If you want to help Ionel some more, please get in touch, or find him outside the Co Op. Or in STC.\
