Sumo gets fatter in Leamington Spa. And that’s a good thing if you want a job.

Sumo Digital, one of the UK’s leading independent developers just announced that it is opening a new studio in Leamington Spa, UK and appointed Chris Southall as its Studio Director.

The new Leamington Spa studio will focus on the development of games for mobile devices, broadening the services offered by Sumo to a wide range of publisher and development partners.  

Chris Southall has an extensive track record in the industry, holding leadership roles at SEGA and Codemasters. Prior to joining Sumo Digital, Chris founded and built SEGA HARDlight – SEGA’s dedicated European mobile studio – specialists in producing titles in the Free-to-Play space.

Paul Porter, Managing Director of Sumo Digital said: 

“Opening a studio dedicated to mobile development is part of our strategy to broaden the portfolio of services we offer. Chris has a well-deserved reputation throughout the industry as an inspirational leader who’s delivered outstanding results. I’m delighted that he is to build and direct our new team in Leamington Spa.”

Chris Southall, Studio Director, Sumo Digital added:

This new studio becomes the seventh for Sumo Digital,sixth in the UK, and follows hot on the heels of the recent acquisitions of Red Kite Games (Huddersfield) and The Chinese Room (Brighton).
