911. Food and friendship for a housebound Sheffield man.

On the way to Lidl I was listening to a radio 4 program regarding the ethics of war, as seen through the prism of various religions, and I found it really thought provoking. There was an ex-army Christian soldier, who had become a pacifist, convinced there was no such thing as a just war. A representative of Islam, who had himself fought against Russia in Afghanistan in the 1980s gave his position, similar to that of the Sikh Chaplain. War as last resort, in defence of justice, peace at first opportunity.

And I wondered, what would happen if people of all faiths just completely renounced war, under any circumstances.

Would the likes of Putin just roll over Europe? Would violence spread its tendrils of inhumanity unchecked?

Doubtless, the position would be tested in practice, but upon being tested, and proven authentic, would that not convince the world that peace is not just possible, but has in truth arrived, and is here?

And would that not bring more to the side of peace, even as the opposition to it strived to provoke more violence?

£83.63 spent to bring a bounty of shopping to a disabled chap who had to move flats due to religious persecution. Thank you supporters for you kindness and compassion.

As I shopped in Lidl I wondered, what would happen. If we just refused to meet violence with violence under any circumstances…
