781. Food to be shared
Decided to buy a load of tins and packaged food to give to the guy that helps the local people with what he can when he can. Thought to buy about 20 tins, and packets, and whatnot, so he can give to others. He’s one of those people who likes to give. He told me this story… Let’s call him T.
T was walking through the underpass near his flat, late at night, and a man approached him with a knife and told him to give him money. T responded like this. ‘You know, doing this makes you a bad person. I don’t have any money. All I’ve got is a tin of beans, at home, I’ll give them to you if you like.’
The would be mugger was obviously taken aback, he was desperate for money for drugs, and also for human kindness and goodness. He followed T to his flat, waited outside, and t got him the tin of beans. The mugger said thank you, and went on his way.
Such a strange story, but somehow not, T has a lot of kindness, and compassion, and seemingly not much or any fear. And whilst for many people, meeting a drug addicted mugger would be a huge deal, for him, he knows these kind of people, lives with them and around them, and sees them as human rather than a threat.
I like the guy.
