772. Three year later…
I remember supporting this chap way back in 2020, in fact there’s still the messages in my phone from 24th April 2020, so when he texted again, in February 2023 I was able to respond to him by name.
As it happens he was rather moved by the situation. He had run out of money and had been going through all his draws trying to find any cash tucked away. What he found was a pristine card with the word God on it. It was one of the God Bless You postcards I’d been putting through peoples doors back in the lockdown. So he texted, and a few minutes later I texted back, greeting him by name, and asking how I could help. He sent over a list of things he needed, and I did a shop for him and dropped it off to him in the evening.
He’s been out in Attercliffe during the day, trying to get some casual labour or work of some sort, and had come home empty handed. He said if it wasn’t for us, he would have just had to fill up on some cheap biscuits and lots and lots of water.
As it was he had a lot of good food to choose from. He thought it was a bit of a miracle.
