Believe Women. Jesus is a feminist.

The New Testament is full of examples of Jesus treating women in a way counter to the rest of the culture at that time. He stands up for a women about to be stoned for adultery. He heals a women of bleeding and calls her daughter, unthinkable to the people of the time, who would have considered her unclean. He allows a ‘sinful woman’ to wash his feet, he treats women and men equally.

The Church took the best part of two thousand years to catch up with this. And it’s compelling, that the book upon which the religion is focused, holds example of Jesus as equaliser of men and women, yet the Church even now is divided upon this at times.

Anyway, my point is this. When Jesus resurrected on the third day, he first revealed himself to women.

“On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here: He has risen!” (Luke 24:1-6)”

“It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not. 1Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.” Luke 24:10

I believe Jesus.
