915 A man blessed by us and by God

Back in the lockdown we stared delivering a regular food shop to a gentleman living in a run down estate near the University roundabout. And I kept delivering him food, probably once a month, ever since. He’s disabled, he was a body builder, and whist at the gym suffered a slipped disk. He’s never been out of pain since. Nor has he been able to walk other than slowly and hesitantly with a stick. To compound this physical disability, he’s always struggled to get proper benefits, and to further compound it, he graciously suffered years of religiously aggravated abuse and threats from many people on the estate.

Because he’s a Christian. And they saw it as their right and their pleasure to intimidate him for rejecting Islam. The council and the police were informed but nothing useful came of it.

But as Jesus taught. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Peerless as always.

He showed me a letter from the DHSS. His PIP has just been taken away. He’s now considering moving back to Iraq. If he does, we will work out how to keep supporting him. God bless him.
